HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the 100th anniversary of the 
4founding of the Silverleaf 4-H club in 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, 4-H started in
1914 under the National Boys and 
6Girls Club Work program; the 4-H Club unified
many local farm 
7and rural youth programs; now, 4-H is worldwide and has

8expanded from just agricultural and nutrition to whatever 
9inspires the
imagination; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, 4-H reaches kids in every corner of America - from 
11urban neighborhoods to
suburban schoolyards to rural farming 
12communities; it has a network of
500,000 volunteers and 3,500 
13professionals that provide caring and
supportive mentoring to 
14all six  million 4-H'ers, helping them grow into true leaders

15today and in life; and
  
 

  
16    WHEREAS, The anniversary will be celebrated with shared 
17memories, ice
cream, pie, and cake on the afternoon of July 8, 
182017 at the McLean County Fairgrounds in Bloomington; 
19therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
21HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

1recognize the 100th anniversary of the founding of the 
2Silverleaf 4-H club and wish them another 100 years of success; 
3and be it further
  
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
5presented to the Silverleaf 4-H club as an expression of our 
6esteem and respect.
