| 2 | | WHEREAS, The office of the Special Envoy to Monitor and |
| 3 | | Combat anti-Semitism in the United States Department of State |
| 4 | | was created in 2004 with bipartisan congressional support and |
| 5 | | has had the full support of the last two presidents; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Since 2004, the Special Envoy has helped document |
| 7 | | abuses against Jewish communities abroad, as well as develop |
| 8 | | and implement approaches to fight anti-Semitism, filling a |
| 9 | | major void; the Special Envoy was also able to address specific |
| 10 | | problems in France, Argentina, Hungary, Ukraine, Greece, and |
| 11 | | Egypt that might have otherwise not been properly addressed; |
| 12 | | and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Anti-Semitism is on the rise in the United States |
| 14 | | and in other nations; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, The position of Special Envoy to Monitor and |
| 16 | | Combat anti-Semitism is currently vacant and needs to be |
| 17 | | filled; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, The office of the Special Envoy to Monitor and |
| 19 | | Combat anti-Semitism should also be adequately staffed and |
| 20 | | funded; and
