| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the residents
of the |
| 4 | | Village of La Grange Park on the 125th anniversary of its |
| 5 | | founding in 2017; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Village of La Grange Park was founded on July |
| 7 | | 14, 1892 when 300
residents living in the southwest corner of |
| 8 | | Proviso Township came together to form what
was then a unique |
| 9 | | suburb - a bedroom community, with no business district or rail
|
| 10 | | transportation service; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, From La Grange Park's quiet beginnings, it has |
| 12 | | grown into one of
the Chicago area's most livable communities |
| 13 | | for its 13,579 residents; it is known for its
historic homes |
| 14 | | along tree-lined streets and its diverse range of housing |
| 15 | | options, which have made La Grange Park one of the most stable |
| 16 | | real estate markets in the
country; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, La Grange Park has seen an influx of new residents |
| 18 | | as young families
have been drawn to the award-winning private |
| 19 | | and public schools that serve the
community, including Nazareth |
| 20 | | Academy, Lyons Township High School, and Riverside-Brookfield
|
| 21 | | High School; and
|
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, La Grange Park also cherishes its senior citizens, |
| 2 | | and it includes
three first-class senior living facilities; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, La Grange Park offers ample recreational |
| 4 | | opportunities, including 24 acres
of parks, multiple Cook |
| 5 | | County Forest Preserves, and the beautiful Salt Creek Bike |
| 6 | | Trail,
which runs through it; it offers community events such |
| 7 | | as the annual Jazz &
Blues Fest, the Concert Under the Stars |
| 8 | | series, and the National Night Out, which always draws large
|
| 9 | | crowds; in addition, the weekend block parties bring neighbors |
| 10 | | together; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, La Grange Park residents and visitors can take |
| 12 | | advantage of a variety of
shopping and service amenities |
| 13 | | offered by 110 businesses, ranging from national
brands to |
| 14 | | locally owned shops; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, La Grange Park residents enjoy easy access to the |
| 16 | | entire Chicago
metropolitan area with METRA rail service and |
| 17 | | Interstates 294, 290, and 55, all nearby; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, La Grange Park will celebrate its |
| 19 | | quasquicentennial with a day-long birthday
celebration on July |
| 20 | | 14 in Memorial Park; therefore, be it

| 21 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |

| 1 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 2 | | recognize the Village of
La Grange Park on the 125th |
| 3 | | anniversary of its founding and we wish it many more
years as |
| 4 | | being one of the Chicago area's premier residential |
| 5 | | communities; and be it further
|
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 7 | | presented to the Village of La
Grange Park.
