HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to
congratulate the Ainad Shriners Circus 
4on the occasion of its 50th anniversary and on its tradition of 
5entertaining Southern
Illinois; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The original Shriners Circus, known as the Shrine

7Circus and Arabian Fete, was held on January 21, 1922 in East 
8Saint
Louis, with entertainment provided by the John W. Moore 
9Co.; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Despite bad weather, the organizers of this first

11circus persevered through the winter to entertain Illinois

12families with thrilling acts and animal performances; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, At some point, the original circus was 
14discontinued; it was revived in 1967 and has taken place
every 
15year since; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, The modern Ainad Shriners Circus continues to wow 
17and
entertain Illinois families with its unique performances 
18and
circus acts from around the world, including its Bengal 
19Tigers,
clowns, elephants, and acrobatics; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, The Ainad Shriners Circus continues the same fun

family friendly tradition that has lasted for 50 
2consecutive
years; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
4HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5congratulate
the Ainad Shriners Circus on its 50th anniversary, 
6and that
we wish it 50 more years of continued operation and 
7success; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be sent 
9to the
Ainad Shriners Circus as a symbol of our esteem and 
10respect.
