HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, David and Dorothy "Doffie" Crabb have lived in the 
3Hyde Park neighborhood in Chicago for the last 35 years; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Deeply rooted in the community, David is a senior 
5philanthropic adviser at the University of Chicago and Doffie 
6is a well-known and much-admired realtor; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, David and Doffie are moving out of the State to be 
8close to their daughter and her family; therefore, be it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
10HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that, to 
11help celebrate Doffie at Linda Neal's July garden party in her 
12honor, we offer
  
13    An Ode to Doffie:
14    We'll miss you when you flee to the east
15    But we salute you for all you've done, not the least
16    Of which is your ability to organize
17    Us-and even better, to energize Us.
18    You've breathed new life into everything you touch,
19    Service League, Fortnightly, Playreaders, Comer and such.
20    You've built on the bonds that hold us together.
21    But we understand it's time to cut the tether.
22    Laura and the children, how could you stay away?

1    We are no match for them; we cannot say you nay.
2    We have to note our David, too, as he's done more than his
3     fair share.
4    In fact, we'll more than miss this totally dynamic pair;
5    and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That:
  
7    We doff our hat to Doffie; to David raise a glass.
8    They gave us their hearts, their souls and they did it all
9     with class.
10    Come back and visit anytime, you'll be our favorite guest.
11    Good cheer to David and Doffie. We wish you the very best.
