HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the 65th
    anniversary of  
4Knights of Columbus, Lansing Council #3540; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The world's largest Catholic fraternal service 
6organization, the Knights of Columbus, was
    founded in the 
7United States in 1882; it was named in honor of Christopher 
8Columbus and supports four principles: charity, unity, 
9fraternity, and patriotism; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Knights of Columbus, Lansing Council #3540 was 
11formed on June 22, 1952 by the men
    of St. Ann Catholic Parish 
12in Lansing; it serves that parish, along with St. James the 
13Greater Catholic Church in Sauk Village and Our Lady of Knock 
14Catholic Church in Calumet City; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Knights of Columbus, Lansing Council #3540 
16carries out the work for the good of the
    community by promoting 
17Catholic education, supporting its athletes on the Special 
18Olympics swim
    team, and supporting the children at the St. 
19Joseph's Carmelite Home; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, The solid foundation laid by those who were 
21instrumental in founding Knights of Columbus, Lansing Council

1#3540 has
   continued through 46 Grand Knights and officers; 
2these 65 years have made the Council what it is today; the 
3Council has seen a steady growth in membership to
   where it 
4numbers are in excess of 480 members; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, To commemorate the 65th anniversary of Knights of 
6Columbus, Lansing Council #3540 there will be a anniversary 
7celebration gala on June 23, 2017 from 6:00 p.m.-10:00
    p.m. at 
8Kacey's Banquet Hall Restaurant and Lounge  in Lansing; 
9therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
11HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12recognize the 65th
    anniversary of Knights of Columbus, Lansing 
13Council #3540 and we wish the members many more wonderful 
14years; and be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to the members of Knights of Columbus, Lansing 
17Council #3540 as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
