| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The State of Illinois owes a debt of gratitude to | ||||||
| 3 | the Department of Veterans'
Affairs for their continued support | ||||||
| 4 | of veterans; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, The Department of Veterans' Affairs provides | ||||||
| 6 | pamphlets to
other State agencies to increase awareness of the | ||||||
| 7 | earned benefits and rights available to veterans through the | ||||||
| 8 | Department; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, The Department of Veterans' Affairs encourages | ||||||
| 10 | other State agencies to make
the Department's pamphlets | ||||||
| 11 | available at their statewide offices and places of business; | ||||||
| 12 | and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Every veteran has made an oath to protect this | ||||||
| 14 | nation, under risk of bodily harm; ensuring that all veterans | ||||||
| 15 | receive proper care after they are discharged is a priority | ||||||
| 16 | that should
not be compromised; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, The Department of Veterans' Affairs assists | ||||||
| 18 | veterans in navigating the system of federal, State, and local | ||||||
| 19 | resources
and benefits by providing long-term healthcare for | ||||||
| 20 | eligible veterans in veterans' homes,
and by partnering with | ||||||
| 21 | other agencies and non-profits to help veterans address | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | education,
mental health, housing, employment, and other | ||||||
| 2 | challenges; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, The Department of Veterans' Affairs provides | ||||||
| 4 | critical augmenting programs and services for Illinois | ||||||
| 5 | veterans; they
stand readily available to assist veterans in | ||||||
| 6 | navigating and applying for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs | ||||||
| 7 | and Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs
programs and | ||||||
| 8 | benefits; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Our service members continue to risk and sacrifice | ||||||
| 10 | a great deal, both at home and
abroad; the Department of | ||||||
| 11 | Veterans' Affairs empowers veterans and their families to
| ||||||
| 12 | thrive back home, and shows great respect and appreciation for | ||||||
| 13 | our vets; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 15 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 16 | recognize the Department of Veterans' Affairs efforts and | ||||||
| 17 | tireless work to help the State's veteran population; and be it | ||||||
| 18 | further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That we encourage all Illinois State agencies to | ||||||
| 20 | provide veterans with veteran benefit rights and the | ||||||
| 21 | informational pamphlets so veterans can thrive in Illinois.
