HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Darlene 
4Ahlstedt of Prospect Heights, who passed away on May 17, 2017; 
5and
  
 
  
6    WHEREAS, Darlene Ahlstedt served as Prospect Heights Ward 5 
7Alderman from 1997 to 2007; she was a staunch advocate for 
8residents living in the multifamily housing district on the 
9city's east side; she improved the standard of living for those 
10at Quincy Park and was an advocate for good wherever she went; 
11she often served as a mentor to incoming aldermen and 
12volunteers; she also served on the Finance Committee; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Darlene Ahlstedt was a member of   the Chicago 
14Executive Airport Board and was a  volunteer with the police 
15department from 2007 to 2017, where she often manned the front 
16desk; she was also part of the police outreach program
and 
17oversaw police volunteer programs; and
  
 
  
18    WHEREAS, Darlene Ahlstedt was viewed as the moral compass 
19of her community; she was a tenacious, public-minded person 
20with a big heart and great sense of compassion for residents of 
21Prospect Heights; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3mourn the passing of Darlene Ahlstedt, and extend our sincere 
4condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
5her; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to  the family of  Darlene Ahlstedt as an expression of 
8our deepest sympathy.
