| 2 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives would like |
| 3 | | to recognize Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln on its 125th |
| 4 | | anniversary; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Immanuel Lutheran Church was founded on July 3,
|
| 6 | | 1892 and soon grew to 150 members; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Immanuel Lutheran Church's first building was |
| 8 | | constructed at the corner of Pekin Street and Logan Street and |
| 9 | | remained there for approximately the next 60 years; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Immanuel Lutheran Church continued to grow and the |
| 11 | | original building eventually did not meet the needs of the |
| 12 | | congregation; with a new minister and over 13,000 hours of |
| 13 | | volunteer labor, the members of the congregation built a new |
| 14 | | church at 1409 Pulaski Street and they dedicated the building |
| 15 | | on June 25, 1961; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Immanuel Lutheran Church has been serving under |
| 17 | | the same mission statement for the past 125 years, "Living, |
| 18 | | Caring, and Sharing the Good News of Jesus"; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, For over a century, Immanuel Lutheran Church has |
| 20 | | provided a place of education, worship, service, and |
