HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize Patricia Ransford on the 
4occasion of her retirement as principal of Arcadia Elementary 
5School after 19 years on May 25, 2017; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Patricia Ransford has been an educator for 49 
7years; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, During Patricia Ransford's tenure, Arcadia 
9Elementary School was recognized with three national awards; 
10the United States Department of Education named it a "Blue 
11Ribbon School" in 2009; the Education Trust honored Arcadia 
12with the "Dispelling the Myth" award in 2013; and on May 10, 
132016, Learning Heroes awarded Arcadia the "Game Plan for 
14Success" award; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The Illinois State Board of Education recognized 
16Arcadia Elementary School with the 2007 "Academic Improvement 
17Award" for exemplary gains in performance on the Illinois 
18Learning Standards, the 2012 "Spotlight School" award for 
19exemplary performance in closing the achievement gap and 
20meeting high standards, and the 2012 "Excellence Award" for 
21exemplary academic performance on the Illinois Learning 
22Standards; and

1    WHEREAS, Arcadia Elementary School received recognition 
2from the Village of Olympia Fields in March of 2007 for

3scholastic  achievement after achieving the highest Illinois 
4Standards Achievement Test scores in Chicago Southland; the 
5Village  of Matteson recognized Arcadia for academic 
6achievement on the
2008 Illinois Standards Achievement Test; 
7and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Patricia Ransford guided Arcadia Elementary 
9School to eight consecutive Exceeding the Ultimate Goal Awards 
10from the District 162 School Board; therefore, be it
  
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
12HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13recognize Patricia Ransford on her retirement as principal of 
14Arcadia Elementary School after 19 years of service, and we 
15wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it 
16further
  
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18presented to Patricia Ransford as an expression of our esteem 
19and respect.
