| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Father Daniel Francis | ||||||
| 4 | Sullivan on the occasion of his retirement as an archdiocesan | ||||||
| 5 | priest; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Father Sullivan was born in Chicago on October 31, | ||||||
| 7 | 1931; he attended Visitation Catholic School, Archbishop | ||||||
| 8 | Quigley Preparatory Seminary, and earned his Master of Arts | ||||||
| 9 | from the University of Saint Mary of the Lake; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Father Sullivan was
ordained on May 3, 1957; he | ||||||
| 11 | celebrated his First Solemn Mass at his home
parish on May 5, | ||||||
| 12 | 1957; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Father Sullivan served as Associate Pastor of | ||||||
| 14 | Sacred Heart Parish in Hubbard Woods from 1957 to 1966, | ||||||
| 15 | Associate
Pastor of Divine Infant Parish in Westchester from | ||||||
| 16 | 1966 to 1970, Pastor of St. Mel Holy
Ghost Parish in Chicago | ||||||
| 17 | from 1970 to 1983, and Associate Pastor of Our Lady of | ||||||
| 18 | Perpetual
Help Parish in Glenview from 1983 to 1989; he took a | ||||||
| 19 | sabbatical for three
months in 1989 to the University of Notre | ||||||
| 20 | Dame in South Bend, Indiana and then returned
to being an | ||||||
| 21 | Associate Pastor of St. Gilbert Catholic Parish in Grayslake | ||||||
| 22 | from 1990 to 1992; he was an Associate Pastor and Resident | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Assistant at Saint Edna Catholic Church in Arlington Heights
| ||||||
| 2 | from 1992 to 2001 and Resident Assistant at Prince of Peace | ||||||
| 3 | Catholic Church in Lake Villa from 2001 to
2016; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Father Sullivan retired from active ministry on | ||||||
| 5 | November 24, 2001, but was committed to assisting
with saying | ||||||
| 6 | Masses at neighboring parishes, schools, and nursing homes | ||||||
| 7 | around
the Archdiocese; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, From 2007 to 2009, Father Sullivan served the | ||||||
| 9 | Archdiocese outside of a parish setting by
becoming a | ||||||
| 10 | Chaplain/Fr. Confessor; he joined the Mundelein Seminary staff | ||||||
| 11 | and their
students while they made several pilgrimages to the | ||||||
| 12 | Holy Land; his assistance was
paramount to many young men | ||||||
| 13 | becoming future priests for the
Archdiocese and for other | ||||||
| 14 | Archdioceses countrywide learning from his vast
knowledge and | ||||||
| 15 | expertise; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, In October of 2016, Father Sullivan became a | ||||||
| 17 | full-time resident at the Bishop Timothy J. Lyne Residence for
| ||||||
| 18 | Retired Priests in Palos Park; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 20 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 21 | congratulate Father Daniel Francis Sullivan on his retirement | ||||||
| 22 | as an archdiocesan priest and we wish him a happy and healthy | ||||||

| 1 | retirement; and be it further
| ||||||
| 2 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 3 | presented to Father Sullivan as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 4 | respect.
