| 6 | | WHEREAS, Illinois-grown produce, such as apples, purchased |

promoted in the cafeterias, brings an economic |
| 8 | | benefit to farmers in the community
and across the State; and

| 9 | | WHEREAS, A school day celebration of Illinois produce, such |
| 10 | | as the Illinois Great
Apple Crunch, makes it easy for schools |
| 11 | | to purchase Illinois-grown apples and
celebrate agriculture |
| 12 | | and healthy food with their students through a cafeteria
|
| 13 | | celebration and community education; the Illinois Great Apple |
| 14 | | Crunch is a day-long celebration of fresh, local apples from |
| 15 | | the Midwest; schools across the State of Illinois can |
| 16 | | participate by serving local apples on the lunch tray and |
| 17 | | crunching into them together as a school; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois Farm to School Network, in |
| 19 | | partnership with the Illinois
Agriculture in the Classroom |
| 20 | | program, is committed to helping schools participate in
the |
| 21 | | Illinois Great Apple Crunch through the provision of |
