HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Susan B. Friend on the 
4occasion of her retirement as Executive Director of the South 
5East Association for Special Recreation (SEASPAR) on July 7, 
62017; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Susan Friend joined SEASPAR in 1979 and has 38 
8years of service with the organization; before joining SEASPAR, 
9she  began her career at the  Western DuPage Special Recreation 
10Association and has a total of 40 years experience serving the 
11recreation needs of individuals with disabilities; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Susan Friend served at SEASPAR as Superintendent 
13of Recreation during the organization's formative years and 
14became Executive Director in 2006; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Susan Friend served as president of the Special 
16Recreation Association of Northern Illinois and was the 
17director and a board member of the Illinois Therapeutic 
18Recreation Section (ITRS); and
 
19    WHEREAS, Susan Friend  has received the ITRS Special 
20Recognition Award, the ITRS Distinguished Service Award, the 
21ITRS Director's Award, and the Illinois Park and Recreation

1Association President's Award; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Susan Friend earned a bachelor's degree in 
3recreation administration from Eastern Illinois University; 
4she served as Recreation Administration Alumni Association 
5President and received the Distinguished Alumni Award; she has 
6a master's degree in management from National Louis University; 
7and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Susan Friend is actively involved in her church 
9and local Kiwanis Club, where she has served as president; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, SEASPAR would not be where it is today without the 
11influence of Susan Friend; therefore, be it
  
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
13HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
14congratulate Susan B. Friend on her retirement as Executive 
15Director of the South East Association for Special Recreation, 
16and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it 
17further
  
 
18    RESOLVED, That a  suitable copy of this resolution be 
19presented to Susan Friend as an expression of our esteem and 
20respect.
