HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Western Illinois 
4University women's basketball team, the Fighting Leathernecks, 
5on winning the 2017 Summit League Tournament; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Fighting Leathernecks defeated Indiana 
7University-Purdue University Indianapolis on March 7, 2017 in 
8Sioux Falls, South Dakota by a score of 77 to 69 in overtime to 
9win their first Summit League Tournament since 1995 and secured 
10a berth in  the NCAA tournament; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, The Fighting Leathernecks compiled a record of 26 
12wins and six losses on their way to winning the Summit League 
13Tournament; and
  
 
  
14    WHEREAS, The Fighting Leathernecks are coached by Head 
15Coach JD Gravina, and Assistant Head Coach Seth Minter; the 
16assistant coaches are Sydney Crafton and Taylor Ignoto; the 
17Director of Basketball Operations is Mike Dashner; the graduate 
18assistants are Marissa Webb and Paige Wolfe; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, The Fighting Leathernecks are Emily Clemens, 
20Olivia Braun, Mallory Boyle, Morgan Blumer, Olivia Kaufmann, 
21Taylor Hannerman, Andi Pierce, Jasmine Patrick, Michelle

1Farrow, Taylor Higginbotham, and Sam Pryor; the manager is Erin 
2Sullivan; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
4HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5congratulate the Western Illinois University women's 
6basketball team, the Fighting Leathernecks, on winning the 2017 
7Summit League Tournament; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
9presented to the Fighting Leathernecks as a symbol of our 
10respect and esteem.
