HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives wishes to congratulate Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare System CEO Pam Davis on the announcement of her retirement after 28 years of expanding and improving healthcare services for families in and around the collar counties; and

WHEREAS, Pam Davis arrived at Edward Hospital in 1988 and quickly established a reputation as an innovative executive; during her tenure as President and CEO, she led the transformation from a small community hospital into a regional medical center rated among the most preferred hospitals in the State with numerous national accolades; and

WHEREAS, In 2013, Pam Davis led the effort to merge with Elmhurst Memorial Hospital and created Edward-Elmhurst Health, a three-hospital system that includes Edward Hospital, Elmhurst Hospital, and Linden Oaks Behavioral Health; the system has more than 60 locations across a service area of 1.7 million residents, nearly 8,500 employees, and 2,000 physicians on its medical staff; and

WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Pam Davis, Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare System earned a reputation as a healthcare leader by providing advanced cardiac care at Edward Heart Hospital, state-of-the-art cancer diagnosis and treatment at Edward Cancer Center, world class stroke care through the Edward Neurosciences Institute in affiliation with Northwestern Medicine, and mental health services through Linden Oaks; in addition, Edward has been a magnet hospital for nursing excellence since 2005 and is one of only six hospitals in Illinois to have achieved magnet status three times or more; and

WHEREAS, The impact of Pam Davis has been felt well beyond Naperville; she brought convenient access to high-quality healthcare for residents throughout the west and southwest suburbs, including the development of the 60-acre Edward Plainfield campus and Edward-Elmhurst Health Centers in Addison, Bolingbrook, Crest Hill, Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Lombard, Naperville, Oak Park, Oswego, Plainfield, and Yorkville; she led the effort to launch walk-in clinics in Aurora, Bensenville, Franklin Park, Lombard, Naperville, Plainfield, River Forest, Romeoville, Westmont, Woodridge, and Yorkville; and

WHEREAS, Pam Davis did a great service for all Illinois taxpayers, blowing the whistle on corruption previously plaguing the State hospital application process; when being strong-armed into hiring specific politically-connected construction firms to receive State approval of her application, she contacted the FBI and wore a secret listening device for eight months to gather evidence of possible extortion that helped lead to successful criminal prosecutions of Stuart Levine and Tony Rezko, among others; and

WHEREAS, In February of 2017, Pam Davis was presented the Career Achievement Award by Chicago Health Executives Forum (CHEF), the largest independent chapter of the American College of Health Executives (ACHE); she was previously honored by CHEF/ACHE with the 2015 Recognition Program Service Award and 2009 Healthcare Leadership Award; and

WHEREAS, Pam Davis has created a lasting legacy of making vital healthcare services more readily accessible for hundreds of thousands of Illinois families, as well as taking a strong stand against public corruption; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Pam Davis for her achievements and her integrity, and we wish her well in retirement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Pam Davis as an expression of our esteem and respect.
