| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Teresa | ||||||
| 4 | Rendon Gonzalez, of Ixcamilpa de Guerrero, Puebla, Mexico, who | ||||||
| 5 | passed away on March 13, 2017; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez was born on May 19, 1929 and | ||||||
| 7 | raised in Ixcamilpa de Guerrero, Puebla, Mexico; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez married Crisologo Torres | ||||||
| 9 | Escamilla and had 11
children, Antonio Torres, Celia Torres, | ||||||
| 10 | Pedro Torres, Tomas Torres, Domitila Torres,
Manuel Torres, | ||||||
| 11 | Fulgencio Torres, Leoncio Torres, Alvaro Torres, Reyna Torres, | ||||||
| 12 | and
Crisologo Torres; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, All of Teresa Gonzalez's children immigrated to | ||||||
| 14 | the State of Illinois, where they have settled
to live and work | ||||||
| 15 | and contribute to the rich development and culture of the City | ||||||
| 16 | of
Chicago; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez had a humble life, where she | ||||||
| 18 | raised
chickens, pigs, turkeys, and other farm animals; she was | ||||||
| 19 | respected, valued, and loved by
all those who knew her in her | ||||||
| 20 | community; and | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez was the matriarch of the family, | ||||||
| 2 | an independent person who would
perform any task and inspired | ||||||
| 3 | her family to follow her example; she loved her family
with a | ||||||
| 4 | gentle, yet stern consistency which only she possessed; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, The passing of Teresa Gonzalez, a community leader | ||||||
| 6 | and matriarch of
the Torres family, has caused a deep void and | ||||||
| 7 | sadness in her community; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez suffered much physical pain yet | ||||||
| 9 | she lived her life with grace; she touched many lives with her | ||||||
| 10 | examples of love, acceptance, and immense pride as a Mexican | ||||||
| 11 | woman; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez left a strong legacy for the State | ||||||
| 13 | of Illinois with 37
grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and | ||||||
| 14 | 13 great-great-grandchildren; the majority
of whom live and | ||||||
| 15 | work in the Land of Lincoln; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez was much loved and respected by | ||||||
| 17 | her family and
friends, both in the United States and around | ||||||
| 18 | the world; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Teresa Gonzalez's true legacy lies in the profound | ||||||
| 20 | effect she had on the countless men and
women she raised and | ||||||
| 21 | taught throughout her life; therefore, be it
| ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 2 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 3 | honor the
memory of Teresa Rendon Gonzalez and celebrate her | ||||||
| 4 | living legacy; and be it further
| ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 6 | presented to the family of Teresa Gonzalez as a symbol of our | ||||||
| 7 | deepest sympathy.
