HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate A.J. Epenesa on being 
4named the Defensive Most Valuable Player in the inaugural 
5Polynesian Bowl at Aloha Stadium on January 21, 2017; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, A.J. Epenesa, a senior at Edwardsville High School 
7and an All-American defensive end, racked up two sacks, five 
8tackles, and two forced fumbles in the Polynesian Bowl; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, A.J. Epenesa played in the United States Army 
10All-American game; he earned first-team
all-state honors for 
11three seasons in high school; he is one of the nation's best 
12discus
throwers and has scored more than 1,000 points as a 
13basketball player; and
  
 
  
14    WHEREAS, A.J. Epenesa will attend the University of Iowa 
15and play football for the Hawkeyes, where his father played 
16before him; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, A.J. Epenesa is a role model for the  Edwardsville 
18community  and the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
20HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

1congratulate A.J. Epenesa on being named the Defensive Most 
2Valuable Player in the inaugural Polynesian Bowl at Aloha 
3Stadium, and we wish him the best as he attends the University 
4of Iowa next fall; and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to A.J. Epenesa as a symbol of our respect and 
7esteem.
