HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, WSOY dedicates itself to keeping the residents of 
3Decatur informed on worldwide, national, State, and local news; 
4and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, For over 90 years, WSOY has been the heritage 
6radio station in the Decatur area; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, WSOY prides itself on giving back to the 
8community, rasing over $15 million for various charities over 
9the past 20 years; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, WSOY hosts the WSOY Community Food Drive, raising 
11over 7.9 million pounds of food for local food banks over the 
12past 15 years; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, WSOY has been recognized on a local, State, and 
14national level as a leader in broadcasting excellence and 
15community service, having received countless service agency 
16awards, multiple Illinois Broadcaster Association Awards, two 
17Marconi Awards, and two NABEF Crystal Awards for Excellence in 
18Community Service; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, WSOY-AM 1340 is now available to a larger audience 
20with the addition of an FM signal on 103.3 FM; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3recognize the dedication of WSOY of Decatur to keeping the 
4residents of the area informed and we thank it for its service 
5to the community; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to WSOY as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
