HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the 20th anniversary of the 
4Grayslake Area Public Library District; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Voters of the Grayslake Area Public Library 
6District approved a referendum for the construction of
a new 
7library on November 2, 1993; a groundbreaking ceremony was held 
8on April 12, 1995 and earth-moving equipment went to
work that 
9August; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, The new library opened its doors and welcomed 
11patrons on January 6, 1997; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Students from High School District 127 decorated 
13the new TeenSpace in 2008; a new floor was created out of thin 
14air in the Youth Services Preschool Area when the light well

15was closed up in 2010; the light well over the lobby was closed 
16up in 2014, again creating more space in the Youth
Services 
17Department; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Kent's Place, named in memory of lifelong library 
19user and longtime Library Trustee Kent Rich, was
dedicated in 
202014; and

1    WHEREAS, The library building's flexibility will continue 
2to enable the Grayslake Area Public Library District to
adapt 
3to new services and collections for the next 20 years; 
4therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
6HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7recognize the 20th anniversary of the Grayslake Area Public 
8Library District and we wish it many more years of success; and 
9be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented Roberta Thomas, Director of the Grayslake Area Public 
12Library District.
