| 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize James Mathew of Hinsdale on |
| 4 | | being selected as one of the top youth volunteers in Illinois |
| 5 | | for 2017; and

| 6 | | WHEREAS, James Mathew was selected as part of the 22nd |
| 7 | | annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, James Mathew is a senior at Hinsdale Central High |
| 9 | | School; he is the co-creator of "Got
Food?", a mobile app |
| 10 | | designed to fight food insecurity by helping people in need, |
| 11 | | and those who serve them,
locate nearby food pantries and other |
| 12 | | resources in 14 states; he is a junior director of development |
| 13 | | at his
local food pantry, and was inspired to create the app |
| 14 | | after learning how many clients were struggling to connect
with |
| 15 | | food charities because they did not know the hours and |
| 16 | | locations; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards |
| 18 | | represents the largest youth recognition
program based solely |
| 19 | | on volunteer service in the United States; all public and |
| 20 | | private middle schools and high schools in the country,
as well |
| 21 | | as all Girl Scout councils, county 4-H organizations, American |
| 22 | | Red Cross chapters, YMCAs, and
HandsOn Network affiliates, were |
