HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Vesecky's Bakery on 
4receiving the 7th Annual George Ashby Award for Business 
5Excellence; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The George Ashby Award for Business Excellence 
7celebrates Berwyn's "Business of the Year"; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Vesecky's Bakery was founded by Bohemil and Anna 
9Vesecky in 1905 in Chicago;  their son, James, and his wife, 
10Alice, took over 30 years later and moved it  to Cermak Road in 
11Berwyn; in the 1960s, the business was  moved to its current 
12location; by 1995, it was owned by the fourth generation of 
13Veseckys, Dave and his wife, Nancy, and Randy and his late 
14wife, Diane; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Vesecky's Bakery is a regional destination for 
16those seeking bonafide Bohemian goodies; it is known for its  
17kolacky, houska, Czech apple strudel, Hungarian strudel, hot 
18cross buns, and cookies; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Vesecky's Bakery reflects the change within the 
20community; it  now serves seasonal products such as guava items 
21and various Mexican cookies to accommodate Berwyn's growing

1Latino population; therefore, be it
  
 
  
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
3HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4congratulate Vesecky's Bakery on receiving the 7th Annual 
5George Ashby Award for Business Excellence; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Vesecky's Bakery as a symbol of our respect and 
8esteem.
