| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Michael Kelly on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement as Superintendent of the Carlinville | ||||||
| 5 | Unit School District #1; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Michael Kelly began his 34-year career in | ||||||
| 7 | education in 1983; he was a teacher at Girard High School for | ||||||
| 8 | two
years before coming to Carlinville in 1985; while at | ||||||
| 9 | Carlinville, he has served as a teacher, coach, activities
| ||||||
| 10 | director, and principal; for the last 12 years, he has led | ||||||
| 11 | Carlinville Unit School District #1 as Superintendent; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Michael Kelly has worked tirelessly to maintain a | ||||||
| 13 | tradition of excellence for the students and the community of
| ||||||
| 14 | Carlinville; through his leadership, the Carlinville Unit | ||||||
| 15 | School District was the first district in the State to
receive | ||||||
| 16 | district-wide accreditation through AdvancED, a national | ||||||
| 17 | accrediting organization; he was also part of
a faculty that | ||||||
| 18 | saw their school burn and helped to pull Carlinville High | ||||||
| 19 | School out of the ashes and make it an
award winning school; he | ||||||
| 20 | has been instrumental in Newsweek recognizing Carlinville High | ||||||
| 21 | School as one of the top high schools in the nation five times; | ||||||
| 22 | and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, While at Carlinville, Michael Kelly was a faculty | ||||||
| 2 | leader when the
high school was recognized as a National Blue | ||||||
| 3 | Ribbon School, and Superintendent when the primary school
| ||||||
| 4 | received the National Blue Ribbon Award; he has also been | ||||||
| 5 | responsible for pushing to create more student-led learning | ||||||
| 6 | environments through the use of technology; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, During his tenure as Superintendent of | ||||||
| 8 | Carlinville schools, Michael Kelly has
received over one | ||||||
| 9 | million dollars in grants for technology and building | ||||||
| 10 | improvements to support technology; he has served the larger | ||||||
| 11 | education community on State committees such as Vision
20/20 | ||||||
| 12 | and with the Illinois High School Association; he has been | ||||||
| 13 | recognized by the IPA and IASA for his outstanding commitment | ||||||
| 14 | to
education and students across the State; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Michael Kelly is well known and respected for his | ||||||
| 16 | vision and commitment to education; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 18 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 19 | congratulate Michael Kelly on his retirement as Superintendent | ||||||
| 20 | of the Carlinville Unit School District, and we wish him the | ||||||
| 21 | best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 22 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
