HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Scott Roger Marquardt of 
4Winfield on the occasion of his 50th birthday; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Scott Marquardt was born on February 9, 1967 and 
6has been a lifelong resident of DuPage County; he  graduated 
7from Glenbard East High School in 1985; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Scott Marquardt had an interest in financial 
9markets and the impact it has on  communities, and  in 1989, he 
10earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of 
11Illinois, where he pledged and received full rights of the 
12brotherhood of Sigma Chi Fraternity; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, In 1992, Scott  Marquardt earned his Juris 
14Doctorate from the Illinois Institute of Technology 
15Chicago-Kent College of Law, and was admitted to the Illinois 
16Bar; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Scott Marquardt began his professional career as a 
18public servant as an assistant in the DuPage County State's 
19Attorney's Office and as a prosecutor in DuPage County until 
201995; in 1996, he embarked on a career as a lobbying advocate 
21for Illinois business and citizen interests, learning from his

1father, mentor, and best friend, the Hon. Roger C. Marquardt of 
2Roger C. Marquardt & Company; the Marquardt Team quickly built 
3and maintained a reputation in Illinois as hard-working, 
4reliable, and trustworthy government affairs professionals who 
5managed unmatched access and relationships with 
6decision-makers, regardless of partisan political affiliation; 
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Upon the passing of the Hon. Roger C. Marquardt, 
9Scott Marquardt assumed the role as President of the advocacy 
10affairs business; he also serves as President of the 
11distinguished and respected Marquardt & Belmonte P.C. Law Firm; 
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Scott Marquardt wed his beloved partner, Barbara 
14Skurka, on December 20, 2002; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The Marquardt family has twice been given new 
16meaning and purpose through the birth of their daughters, Julia 
17Diane Marquardt on November 2, 2003, and Lauren Rachel 
18Marquardt on October 18, 2005; and
 
  
19    WHEREAS, It is indisputable that Scott Marquardt is a 
20loving son, brother, uncle, husband, and father; he is the 
21trusted confidant and best friend to many, and has  a heart of 
22purity with a generosity and undiscriminating kindness; and

1    WHEREAS, Scott Marquardt serves his family, friends, and 
2the Illinois State House community as a source for sincere 
3decency and guidance; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6offer our gratitude, appreciation, and heartfelt wishes that 
7Scott Roger Marquardt enjoys the celebration of his 50th 
8anniversary of the date of his birth; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Scott Marquardt as our wish for many more years of 
11good health and prosperity for the Marquardt family.
