| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ___. Amend House Resolution 94 as follows:

| 3 | | by deleting everything and replacing it with the following:

| 4 | | "WHEREAS, Waterborne hazards, including bacteria, toxins, |
| 5 | | and heavy metals, such as
lead, may exist in plumbing and |
| 6 | | heating and cooling systems; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The Department of Public Health has encouraged |
| 8 | | school districts,
prior to testing for Legionella, to implement |
| 9 | | and develop plans for responding if a
positive result were to |
| 10 | | occur; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, School District U-46 (Elgin) responded to the |
| 12 | | presence of Legionella in its
cooling systems by closing its |
| 13 | | facilities; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Guidance for developing and implementing a |
| 2 | | comprehensive water quality
management plan in schools does not |
| 3 | | exist in the State; therefore, be it
|
| 4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
|
| 5 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
|
| 6 | | encourage the Department of Public Health, in collaboration |
| 7 | | with the State
Board of Education, to make available to |
| 8 | | schools, guidance for developing and
implementing |
| 9 | | comprehensive water quality management plans; and be it further
|
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That the Department of Public Health and the |
| 11 | | State Board of
Education are to update the General Assembly |
| 12 | | with a report on their progress by December
31, 2017; and be it |
| 13 | | further
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 15 | | provided to the Director of the Department of Public
Health and |
| 16 | | the State Superintendent of Education."
