| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize the Illinois State Police |
| 4 | | Department on the occasion of its 95th anniversary; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois State Police Department was formed on |
| 6 | | April 1, 1922 under the direction of Superintendent John T. |
| 7 | | Stack; its motto is, "Integrity, Service, and Pride"; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, The goals of the Illinois State Police are to |
| 9 | | improve the quality of life for citizens through unimpeachable |
| 10 | | integrity,
public service, and training and education, to |
| 11 | | safeguard the public by assisting law enforcement, decreasing |
| 12 | | traffic fatalities and
injuries, and reducing crime and the |
| 13 | | fear of crime, and to provide leadership through innovation as |
| 14 | | a dynamic, diverse,
learning organization which promotes |
| 15 | | personal and professional growth; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, As of 2017, more than 60 state troopers have paid |
| 17 | | the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives in service to the |
| 18 | | State and its citizens; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Today, the Illinois State Police Department has 21 |
| 20 | | patrol districts, seven investigative zones, six operational |
| 21 | | forensic science laboratories, and five
regional crime scene |
