HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Norwood Park Fire Chief 
4Kevin Stenson, on the occasion of his retirement in January of 
52017; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Stenson began his career with Norwood Park 
7as an emergency responder; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Chief Stenson volunteered along with two 
9colleagues in 2005 to drive a squad car to New Orleans, 
10Louisiana to assist with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and 
11responding to local emergencies; he arrived three days after 
12the hurricane hit, and spent several days outside camping in 
13tents in dry patches of land with other firefighters, until a 
14fire station opened following flood clean-up and the crews 
15could move in; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Chief Stenson was promoted to fire lieutenant in 
171996, a position he held until 2002 when he became deputy fire 
18chief; he was promoted to Chief in 2005; and

  
 
19    WHEREAS, Chief Stenson will be joined in retirement by his 
20wife, Maggie, when she retires from her career as a nurse next 
21year; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, 
3along with his family, friends, and co-workers, congratulate 
4Norwood Park Fire Chief Kevin Stenson on the occasion of his 
5retirement, and thank him for his years of dedicated public 
6service to the Norwood Park community, and the State of 
7Illinois; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Chief Kevin Stenson as an expression of our esteem 
10and respect.
