HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Robert W. Smith on the 
4occasion of his retirement from the Harrisburg City Police 
5Department after over 25 years of service; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Robert Smith joined the Harrisburg City Police 
7Department on April 16, 1991; he was promoted to Sergeant on 
8February 16, 1999 and to Chief of Police on May 16, 2007; he 
9stepped down from his position as Chief on May 7, 2015; he 
10returned to duty as  a Sergeant, retiring on December 16, 2016; 
11and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Robert Smith served as the Lead Homicide 
13Detective; he also served as a Training Officer and holds many 
14certifications; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Robert Smith began the Shop With a Cop program for 
16the City of Harrisburg; and
  
 
  
17    WHEREAS, Robert Smith and his wife, Kimberly, reside in 
18Harrisburg; they have two sons, Jantsen R. Smith, and Garrett 
19W. Smith; therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
2congratulate Robert W. Smith on his retirement from the 
3Harrisburg City Police Department after over 25 years of 
4service, and we wish him the best in all his future endeavors; 
5and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Robert Smith as an expression of our esteem and 
8respect.
