HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Sheriff Timothy Bukowski 
4on the occasion of his retirement from the Kankakee County 
5Sheriff's Office, and his 39 years of faithful service to the 
6Kankakee community; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Sheriff Timothy Bukowski is a lifelong resident of 
8Kankakee; he has been married to Brenda Bukowski for 42 years; 
9together they raised three sons and are the grandparents of 
10seven grandchildren; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Sheriff Timothy Bukowski is a veteran of the 
12United States Army; he courageously served his country for 19 
13months in Vietnam where he was awarded both the Air Medal and 
14the Soldier's Medal for heroism; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Sheriff Timothy Bukowski joined the Kankakee 
16County Sheriff's Department as a patrolman in 1977; due to his

17faithful work within the department, he reached the position of 
18Undersheriff in 1994; he was appointed Sheriff in 1996, a  
19position in which he has served for 17 years; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Sheriff Timothy Bukowski earned his bachelor's 
21degree from Lewis University; he is a graduate of the National

1Academy of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Cook County 
2Sheriff's Academy, and the National Sheriff's Academy; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Sheriff Timothy Bukowski has consistently 
4modernized the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office; he pioneered 
5many innovative programs including a county-wide radio 
6communication system, a video recording system for use in 
7suspect and witness interviews, a county-wide computer 
8assisted dispatch system, an inmate bed rental program, and 
9many other unique and original initiatives; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
11HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

12congratulate Sheriff Timothy Bukowski on the occasion of his 
13retirement, and wish him continued health and happiness in the 
14coming years; and be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to Sheriff Timothy Bukowski as a symbol of our esteem 
17and respect.
