| 2 | | WHEREAS, The hard-working people of the State of Illinois |
| 3 | | depend on their wages to support themselves and their families; |
| 4 | | and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Many people in the State only receive minimum wage |
| 6 | | or an amount that does not suit their qualifications and work |
| 7 | | load; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Studies have shown that people do not ask for |
| 9 | | raises from their bosses for numerous reasons, including the |
| 10 | | fears that they do not deserve more money at their job, that |
| 11 | | their request for more money will be rejected, that they lack |
| 12 | | the necessary skills in negotiation to get a raise, and that |
| 13 | | they would be fired from their job if they ask for a raise; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, The members of this body believe in the |
| 15 | | empowerment of those hard-working individuals that wish to have |
| 16 | | an income commensurate with the hard work and long hours that |
| 17 | | they devote to their places of employment; therefore, be it
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 19 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 20 | | designate the month of March in 2017 and 2018 as Ask Your Boss |
| 21 | | for a Raise Month in order to raise awareness of the |
