AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5983




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5983 on page 3, 
3immediately below line 11, by inserting the following:


4            "(E) Notwithstanding any other provision of this 
5        Act, within at least 12 months of the effective date of 
6        this amendatory Act of the 100th General Assembly, a 
7        hospital licensed under the Hospital Licensing Act or 
8        operated under the University of Illinois Hospital Act 
9        shall discontinue its use of ethylene oxide for the 
10        sterilization of medical products. The Agency shall 
11        adopt rules to require the discontinuation of ethylene 
12        oxide use at hospitals that take effect more than one 
13        year after the effective date of this amendatory Act of 
14        the 100th General Assembly.".
