| 1 | | AN ACT concerning State government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Mental Health and Developmental |
| 5 | | Disabilities Administrative Act is amended by adding Section |
| 6 | | 5.2 as follows:

| 7 | | (20 ILCS 1705/5.2 new) |
| 8 | | Sec. 5.2. Mental health professional; Armed Forces |
| 9 | | training. Notwithstanding any State licensing law to the |
| 10 | | contrary, the Department of Human Services shall adopt rules, |
| 11 | | which shall be implemented within 6 months after the effective |
| 12 | | date of this amendatory Act of the 100th General Assembly, that |
| 13 | | would allow a person who has completed a psychiatric training |
| 14 | | program certification from any branch of the United States |
| 15 | | Armed Forces with at least one year of experience in a mental |
| 16 | | health setting to be recognized as a mental health professional |
| 17 | | for purposes of programs authorized or funded by the Department |
| 18 | | under the standards of practice and under the direction of a |
| 19 | | licensed mental health professional as authorized by the |
| 20 | | Department.
