Amends the Wildlife Code. Provides that any person may use a crossbow to take coyotes during any coyote season. Effective immediately.

| 1 | | AN ACT concerning wildlife.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Wildlife Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 | | 2.5 as follows: |
| 6 | | (520 ILCS 5/2.5) |
| 7 | | Sec. 2.5. Crossbow conditions. |
| 8 | | (a) A person may use a crossbow if one or more of the |
| 9 | | following conditions are met: |
| 10 | | (1) the user is a person age 62 and older; |
| 11 | | (2) the user is a person with a disability to whom the |
| 12 | | Director has issued a permit to use a crossbow, as provided |
| 13 | | by administrative rule; or |
| 14 | | (3) the date of using the crossbow is during the period |
| 15 | | of the second Monday following the Thanksgiving holiday |
| 16 | | through the last day of the archery deer hunting season |
| 17 | | (both inclusive) set annually by the Director. |
| 18 | | (b) As used in this Section, "person with a disability" |
| 19 | | means a person who has a physical impairment due to injury or |
| 20 | | disease, congenital or acquired, which renders the person so |
| 21 | | severely disabled as to be unable to use a longbow, recurve |
| 22 | | bow, or compound bow. Permits must be issued only after the |
| 23 | | receipt of a physician's statement confirming the applicant is |
