| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections |
| 5 | | 10-20.60 and 34-18.53 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/10-20.60 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 10-20.60. Multiple child placement. Each school board |
| 8 | | shall develop a policy for determining the classroom placement |
| 9 | | of children from the same family in the same grade at school. |
| 10 | | The policy shall state that determining placement of children |
| 11 | | of the same grade from the same family shall be handled on a |
| 12 | | case-by-case basis by the school, and the school shall involve |
| 13 | | both teachers and parents or legal guardians in the |
| 14 | | determination of class placement. The policy shall also make |
| 15 | | the parent's or legal guardian's preference on placement a |
| 16 | | determinative factor.
