AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3157 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3157 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
 
4    "Section 5. The Department of Agriculture Law of the Civil 
5Administrative
Code of Illinois is amended  by adding Section 
6205-48 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 205/205-48 new)
8    Sec. 205-48. Tracking food deserts.  The Department in 
9cooperation with the Department of Public Health shall identify 
10and track geographical areas in this State that are food 
11deserts. The Department shall notify respective municipal 
12governmental bodies identified as food deserts and provide an 
13annual report to the General Assembly detailing the locations 
14of food deserts within the State and an analysis of health 
15impacts on populations in the State. For the purposes of this 
16Section, "food desert" means a location vapid of fresh fruit,

1vegetables, and other healthful whole foods, in part due to a 
2lack of grocery stores, farmers' markets, or healthy food 
3providers.".
