| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections |
| 5 | | 10-20.60 and 34-18.53 as follows:

| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/10-20.60 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 10-20.60. School-grown produce. A school district may |
| 8 | | serve students produce grown and harvested by students in |
| 9 | | school-owned facilities utilizing hydroponics or aeroponics or |
| 10 | | in school-owned or community gardens if the soil and compost in |
| 11 | | which the produce is grown meets the standards adopted in 35 |
| 12 | | Ill. Adm. Code 830.503, if applicable, and the produce is |
| 13 | | served in accordance with the standards adopted in 77 Ill. Adm. |
| 14 | | Code 750.
