| 1 | | AN ACT concerning government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Flag Display Act is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 15 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (5 ILCS 465/15 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 15. Bicentennial 21-star United States flag. |
| 8 | | Notwithstanding any provisions of this Act to the contrary, for |
| 9 | | the period of time spanning December 3, 2017 through December |
| 10 | | 31, 2018, a United States flag bearing 21 stars shall be flown |
| 11 | | from the flag pole of the Illinois State Capitol Building in |
| 12 | | celebration of Illinois' bicentennial as the 21st state to join |
| 13 | | the Union. Such flag shall conform to the requirements set |
| 14 | | forth in Section 5 of the Official United States Flag Act, and |
| 15 | | any other applicable requirements under this Act concerning the |
| 16 | | respectful care and display of a United States flag. This |
| 17 | | Section is repealed January 1, 2019.

| 18 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 19 | | becoming law.
