Elected Senate Republican Leader (January 2021- January 2023); appointed to the Illinois Senate in 2016; supports policies that promote job growth, encourage smaller and smarter government, and root out corruption; championed legislation to reduce property taxes, ensure visitation rights for patients in hospitals and nursing homes, protect sexual assault victims, increase government transparency, provide for a non-partisan redistricting process, and empower voters to take a more active role in their state government.
