| 1 | SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General | ||||||
| 3 | Assembly pays honor and respect to truly great individuals who | ||||||
| 4 | have served our country and, in doing so, have made the | ||||||
| 5 | ultimate sacrifice for our nation; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Sergeant Timothy D. Sayne, the son of Mary | ||||||
| 7 | "Kathy" Even Sayne and Robert Sayne, was born in Henderson, | ||||||
| 8 | Kentucky on November 28, 1979; he graduated from Effingham | ||||||
| 9 | High School; he married Thania Agustin in Reno, Nevada on | ||||||
| 10 | October 17, 2009; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Sgt. Sayne began serving in the United States | ||||||
| 12 | Army in 2008; he was stationed in Alaska, and he was assigned | ||||||
| 13 | to B Troop, 5-1 Calvary, 1/25 Stryker Brigade Combat Team | ||||||
| 14 | (SBCT), 25th Infantry Division; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Sgt. Sayne was killed in action during an | ||||||
| 16 | insurgent attack in Shah Wali Kot, Kandahar Province, | ||||||
| 17 | Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom on September 18, | ||||||
| 18 | 2011; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Sgt. Sayne was the father of Timothy Kalvin and | ||||||
| 20 | the brother of Cory (Jamie) Sayne, Joey (Desiree) Sayne, and | ||||||
| 21 | Paige (George) Huntington; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Sgt. Sayne was known as a devoted father who was | ||||||
| 2 | proud to serve his country; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 4 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF | ||||||
| 5 | REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the | ||||||
| 6 | Fayette Avenue Interstates 57 and 70 Overpass in Effingham as | ||||||
| 7 | the "Sgt. Timothy Sayne Memorial Overpass"; and be it further | ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation | ||||||
| 9 | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with | ||||||
| 10 | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs | ||||||
| 11 | giving notice of the name "Sgt. Timothy Sayne Memorial | ||||||
| 12 | Overpass"; and be it further | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to the family of Sgt. Sayne and the Secretary of the | ||||||
| 15 | Illinois Department of Transportation. | ||||||
