SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Hinduism is the third largest religion in the 
3world with more than one billion followers worldwide and six 
4million in the United States; and
 
5    WHEREAS, During the month of October, the culture, 
6history, traditions, achievements, and contributions of Hindus 
7are recognized and celebrated throughout the United States; 
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Hindu Americans have made numerous positive 
10contributions in all aspects of society, including science, 
11business, politics, and spirituality; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Illinois' vibrant Hindu American community has 
13contributed tremendously to the vitality of the State and 
14enriched the lives of its citizens; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Hindus strive to achieve dharma, which is a code 
16of living that emphasizes good conduct and morality; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The Hindu American community will collectively 
18celebrate its heritage during the month of October by focusing 
19on its culture and the diverse spiritual traditions rooted in 
20India; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare the month of 
3October 2025 as Hindu American Heritage Month in the State of 
4Illinois.
