HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Election judges and poll workers provide an invaluable function for our State and are one of this nation's most valuable resources; and

WHEREAS, Election judges and poll workers are truly the unsung heroes of our democracy; and

WHEREAS, Election judges and poll workers, with their training, dedication, and professionalism, play a vital role in ensuring safe, fair, and free elections; and

WHEREAS, Election judges and poll workers uphold election laws with integrity and accuracy, thereby maintaining public trust and confidence in elections; and

WHEREAS, Election judges and poll workers have met the challenges presented by a global pandemic during a presidential election, shifting expectations, and ever-evolving demands; and

WHEREAS, Tens of thousands of election judges and poll workers serve on Election Day to ensure that Illinois elections are conducted according to the principles of freedom and liberty upon which our nation and State were founded; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare the weeks of August 1 through August 7, 2025 and August 1 through August 7, 2026 as Illinois Election Judge and Poll Worker Appreciation Week in the State of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we express our appreciation and admiration for the election judges and poll workers of Illinois and the vital role they perform in our elections, our democracy, and our State.
