B.A. in Education and Human Services from the University of Illinois at Springfield in 1981;
M.A. in Education and Public Policy from UIS in 2002;
Honorary degrees from Blackburn College as well as Lewis & Clark Community College;
Numerous awards from community, social and professional organizations;
Married to the former Deanna Clemonds; they have two children and four grandchildren.
